Our anesthesiologist is placing a pacing Swan-Ganz catheter prior to cardiac surgery (CABG or valve procedures) to also primarily monitor the hemodynamic status. This type of catheter remains in place should pac-ing also be required following the cardiac surgery? May code 93503, Insertion and placement of flow directed catheter (eg, Swan-Ganz) for monitoring purposes, be reported?
